Caracol de Cobo — Cobo Shell is a large, sacred sea shell used in Santería and Lucumí tradition in the construction of Elegua, the Orisha who guards the roads and doors of destiny. The cobo's hard, curved shell is shaped and set to form the head (otá) of an Elegua figure, giving the santo his face and his presence.
Common uses:
- Building and constructing the head (cabeza) of Elegua
- Ornamentation for Elegua's shrine and altar
- Traditional material used in preparing the Guerreros
